Polyethylene high temperature backer rod DMV+ termCORD for joint filling

High-temperature backer rod DMV + termCORD is a white, round profiles made of closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam. It has been specially designed for filling joints with hot applied binders, such as hot bitumen fillers. It ensures proper spreading of the binder, control of the weld depth and prevents binder sticking from the bottom of the weld. Available in sizes from 10 to 32mm. High-temperature DMV + termCORD backer rod is resistant to short-term temperatures up to 200oC.

The DMV + termCORD backer rod has been designed for use with hot applied adhesives as it is resistant to short-term exposure to temperature up to 200oC. Using the DMV + termCORD backer rod allows the correct hourglass binder distribution and avoids triplexing. The product is flexible and easy to use. These backer rod are used in the construction of roads and highways, taxiways at airports, in the construction of bridges, parking lots, etc.

The selection of the DMV + termCORD backer rod size is extremely important for the correct determination of the filling depth. The backer rod must be oversized by 25 to 30% to fit tightly into the joint and function as a bondbreaker to prevent back-side adhesion of the sealant.

The backer rod should be installed with a special designed insertion tool, to avoid any kind of damage of the rod during the installation. Prior to the placing of the backer rod, clean all joints as per the sealant and the primer manufacturer‘s recommandations. The application of cold applied sealants shall not begin if there is any sign of moisture on the surface or in the joint. All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of all foreign matters.
